Using the Remote Customer Display app on a customer facing tablet, allows you to display the customers receipt, subtotal, and change to the customer. You can also display an ad, which can be an image, video, or a web page.
Support for up to 2 Android tablet Remote Customer Display screens per register is provided. These tablets can be just about any tablet that has WiFi, including the inexpensive tablets sold at WalMart and Best Buy for less than $100.
An ad can be displayed on the bottom or left side of the screen, depending on the orientation of the screen. This ad can be an image, a video or a web page. If you choose a video, the video automatically repeats. The ad space can be defined in the settings screen.
This space can also be used for ads from your suppliers.
You need to install our Registroid Remote Customer Display app on the device. The download is at the bottom of the Download page. Be sure to follow all of the instructions on the download page.
Once installed, pressing the [Menu] button (or menu dropdown on the top of the screen) will show a menu that includes:
- Settings selection - This will display the settings screen (see below right)
- Refresh - This can be used to refresh the Remote Display connection if it has been lost.
- IP Address - This shows the Remote Display's IP Address. This needs to be entered in the Registroid Cloud [Devices] screen.
As a security measure, the Remote Display app sets itself as a Home screen and does not allow exiting using the Back button. To exit the app, press the Menu button or dots, selected Settings, then press the [Exit App] button.
After installing, press the Home screen, and you should see a screen that says:"Complete Action Using:"
Check the box that says "Use by default for this action", then select the Registroid Remote Display option.
This will make it harder for someone to run other apps besides the Remote Display app. You can change this behavior back by running the Settings app, select Applications, Manage Applications, scroll to the Registroid Remote Display app, then press the [Clear Defaults] button in the Launch By Default section.
Also note that the screen will stay on while the Remote Display app is running. The tablet should be plugged in all the time so you don't run on batteries.
For security, a PIN can be required to access the Maintenance screen. Enter any number sequence to secure the settings screen. An entry of "0000" disables the need for a PIN.
